Abban az időben Jézus ezt mondta Nikodémusnak: „Ahogy Mózes fölemelte <span style="color:rgb(39,78,19)"><span style="background-color:rgb(255,255,255)">a 
kígyót </span></span>a pusztában, úgy fogják fölemelni az Emberfiát is, hogy aki hisz 
benne,<span style="color:rgb(102,0,0)"> el </span>ne <span style="color:rgb(102,0,0)">vesszen</span>, hanem örökké éljen. Mert úgy szerette Isten a 
világot, hogy egyszülött Fiát adta oda, hogy aki benne hisz, <span style="color:rgb(102,0,0)">el</span> ne <span style="color:rgb(102,0,0)">
vesszen</span>, hanem örök élete legyen. Isten nem <span style="color:rgb(102,0,0)">azért</span> küldte Fiát <span style="color:rgb(39,78,19)">a világ</span>ba,
 hogy<span style="color:rgb(39,78,19)"> elítélje a világot,</span> hanem hogy általa üdvözüljön <span style="color:rgb(39,78,19)">a világ.</span> Aki hisz
 benne, az nem esik <span style="color:rgb(39,78,19)">ítélet</span> alá, de <span style="color:rgb(102,0,0)">aki nem hisz, az már ítéletet vont 
magára, mert nem hitt </span>Isten egyszülött Fiában.<br>
Az ítélet ez: A világosság <span style="color:rgb(39,78,19)">a világ</span>ba jött, <span style="color:rgb(102,0,0)">de <span style="color:rgb(39,78,19)">az emberek</span> jobban 
szerették a sötétséget, mint </span>a világosságot, <span style="color:rgb(102,0,0)">mert tetteik gonoszak 
voltak.</span> Mert <span style="color:rgb(102,0,0)">mindenki, aki gonoszat tesz, gyűlöli</span> a világosságot, és <span style="color:rgb(102,0,0)">nem
 megy</span> a világosságra, <span style="color:rgb(102,0,0)">nehogy</span> napvilágra kerüljenek <span style="color:rgb(102,0,0)">tettei.</span> Aki azonban 
az igazságot cselekszi, a világosságra megy, hadd nyilvánuljanak ki 
tettei, hogy Isten szerint cselekedte azokat.”<br>
Ezek az evangélium igéi.

 <font size="2">Friends, our Gospel today includes one of the best-known passages of Scripture: 
<span style="background-color:rgb(208,224,227)"><b>“God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who 
believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.”</b></span><br></font></span><font size="2"><br><span style="color:inherit;font-weight:inherit;line-height:inherit;text-decoration:inherit;font-family:georgia,"times new roman""><span style="background-color:rgb(255,242,204)"><b>In
 his passion to set right <span style="background-color:rgb(234,209,220)">a disjointed </span><span style="background-color:rgb(217,234,211)">universe, </span>God broke open his own 
heart in love<span style="background-color:rgb(255,242,204)">. </span></b><b>The Father sent</b></span>, not simply a representative, spokesman,

God’s center—the love between the Father and the Son—is now offered as 
our center; <span style="background-color:rgb(255,242,204)"><b>God’s heart breaks open so as to include even <span style="background-color:rgb(234,209,220)">the worst </span>and 
<span style="background-color:rgb(234,209,220)">most</span> hope<span style="background-color:rgb(234,209,220)">less</span> among
us.</b></span><br></span><br><span style="color:inherit;font-weight:inherit;line-height:inherit;text-decoration:inherit;font-family:georgia,"times new roman"">In
 so many spiritual traditions, the emphasis is placed on the human quest
 for God, but this is reversed in Christianity. Christians do not 
believe that God is dumbly “out there,” like a mountain waiting to be 
climbed by various religious searchers. On the contrary,<span style="background-color:rgb(255,242,204)"><b> God, like the 
hound of heaven </b></span>in Francis Thompson’s poem, <span style="background-color:rgb(255,242,204)"><b>comes relentlessly searching
 after <span style="background-color:rgb(217,234,211)">us.</span> </b><b>Because of this questing and self-emptying divine love, <span style="background-color:rgb(217,234,211)">we
