<i>Simeon meglátta a Szabadítót, a Messiást. </i><br>

Amikor Mózes törvénye szerint elteltek Mária tisztulásának napjai, 

fölvitték Jézust Jeruzsálembe, hogy bemutassák az Úrnak, amint az Úr 

törvénye előírja: „Minden elsőszülött fiú az Úr szent tulajdona.” Ekkor 

kellett Máriának, ugyancsak az Úr törvénye szerint, „egy pár gerlét vagy

 két galambfiókát” tisztulási áldozatul bemutatnia.<br>

És íme, volt Jeruzsálemben egy Simeon nevű férfiú, egy igaz és istenfélő

 ember, aki Izrael vigaszára várt, és a Szentlélek lakott benne. A 

Szentlélek kinyilatkoztatta neki, hogy nem lát <span style="color:rgb(39,78,19)">halált </span>addig, míg meg nem

 látja az Úr Fölkentjét. A Lélek arra indította, hogy menjen a 

templomba, amikor a gyermek Jézust odavitték szülei, hogy a törvény 

előírásai szerint cselekedjenek vele. Simeon a karjára vette őt, és így 

<span style="color:rgb(7,55,99)">magasztalta </span>Istent:<br>

<span style="color:rgb(7,55,99)">Most már elbocsáthatod szolgádat,<span style="color:rgb(255,0,0)"> Uram,

szavaid szerint </span>békességben,

mert szemeim meglátták <span style="color:rgb(255,0,0)">Szabadításodat,

</span>melyet minden nemzet számára készítettél,

hogy világosság legyen: kinyilatkoztatás a pogányoknak,

és dicsőség népednek, Izraelnek. *</span><br>

Jézus atyja és anyja ámulva hallgatták mindazt, amit Simeon mondott. 

Simeon pedig megáldotta őket, és így szólt Máriához, Jézus anyjához: 

„Lám, e gyermek által <span style="color:rgb(102,0,0)">sokan elbuknak</span> és sokan feltámadnak Izraelben! <span style="color:rgb(39,78,19)">Az 

ellentmondás</span> jele lesz ő – még a te lelkedet is<span style="color:rgb(102,0,0)"> tőr járja át –</span>, hogy 

napfényre kerüljenek <span style="color:rgb(39,78,19)">sok szívnek titkos gondolatai!</span>” Ott volt Anna 

prófétanő is, Fánuel leánya Áser törzséből. Idős volt már, napjai 

előrehaladtak. Leánykora után hét évig élt férjével, majd özvegyen érte 

meg a nyolcvannegyedik évét. Nem hagyta el a templomot soha, böjtölve és

 imádkozva szolgálta Istent éjjel és nappal. Abban az órában is odament,

 dicsőítette Istent, és beszélt a gyermekről mindazoknak, akik 

Jeruzsálem megváltására vártak.<br>

Miután az Úr törvénye szerint elvégeztek mindent, visszatértek 

városukba, a galileai Názáretbe. A gyermek pedig növekedett és 

erősödött, eltelt bölcsességgel, és Isten kedvét lelte benne.<br>

Ezek az evangélium igéi.</b></span></p><p align="justify"><span style="color:rgb(255,0,0)"><b>

<font size="2"><span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-weight:400;line-height:inherit;text-decoration:inherit;font-family:georgia,"times new roman";font-style:normal">Friends,

our Gospel today celebrates <span style="background-color:rgb(208,224,227)">the Presentation of the Lord in the temple.

 </b></span>We are meant to understand that <span style="background-color:rgb(255,242,204)"><b>the glory of Yahweh is returning to the

 temple in the arms of Mary and Joseph, thus fulfilling one of the 

deepest aspirations of

Israel’s people. <span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-weight:400;line-height:inherit;text-decoration:inherit;font-family:georgia,"times new roman";font-style:normal">Now,

 there is more to this story than the return of the Lord to his temple. <span style="background-color:rgb(255,242,204)">

<b>The Son of God, having taken to himself <span style="background-color:rgb(217,234,211)">a human nature</span>, is presented to 

the Father, and thereby <span style="background-color:rgb(217,234,211)">the human race</span> is brought back on line. This 

little baby </b></span></span><span style="background-color:rgb(255,242,204)"><span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);line-height:inherit;text-decoration:inherit;font-family:georgia,"times new roman";font-style:italic">is</span><span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);line-height:inherit;text-decoration:inherit;font-family:georgia,"times new roman";font-style:normal"> the reconciliation of divinity and <span style="background-color:rgb(217,234,211)">humanity</span>, </span></span></font></b><span style="background-color:rgb(255,255,255)"><font size="2"><span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);line-height:inherit;text-decoration:inherit;font-family:georgia,"times new roman";font-style:normal"></span><span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);line-height:inherit;text-decoration:inherit;font-family:georgia,"times new roman";font-style:italic">is</span><span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);line-height:inherit;text-decoration:inherit;font-family:georgia,"times new roman";font-style:normal"> the very essence of temple sacrifice.</span></font></span><b><font size="2"><span style="background-color:rgb(255,242,204)"><span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-weight:400;line-height:inherit;text-decoration:inherit;font-family:georgia,"times new roman";font-style:normal"><br></span></span><br><span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-weight:400;line-height:inherit;text-decoration:inherit;font-family:georgia,"times new roman";font-style:normal">At

 the climax of his life, this baby, now come of age, would enter the 

temple again. This time, he would pass judgment on it and declare his 

own body as the new temple. A few days later, on the cross, he would 

perform the final temple sacrifice, offering himself to the Father, even

 as he bore the sins of the human race.<br></span><br><span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-weight:400;line-height:inherit;text-decoration:inherit;font-family:georgia,"times new roman";font-style:normal"><span style="background-color:rgb(255,242,204)"><b>The

Presentation of Jesus in the temple, perfected on the cross, is 

re-presented every time the Mass is celebrated</b></span>. The Presentation of the
