Dear Mrs. Sonja,

The fire that burnt Notre Dame Cathedral compromised the building in a
material sense.

But there is a second "fire" that threatens the Cathedral in a more serious
and spiritual sense.

See, the French President, Mr. Emmanuel Macron plans to use contemporary
art to rebuild the Cathedral in a hurry.

Mr. Edouard Philippe, the French Prime Minister, launched a worldwide
contest among architects to find out if the cathedral's spire ought to be
rebuilt with "contemporary techniques and goals."

For example, one architect submitted a modern version of the spire with "a
hole with a kind of arrow inverted from below." Others suggest a glass roof
that would become a "transparent secular space".

*Please act immediately to prevent them from disfiguring Notre Dame
Cathedral.*

*Sign the petition to Mr. Macron and the Minister of Culture. Demand that
Notre Dame is restored as it was*:

Notre Dame is a sacred place. It belongs to God and to history. It must not
become a toy in the hands of secular architects who despise the true French
identity.

There are several disturbing statements about the plans to rebuild Notre
Dame in a modern style. For example:

*You won't believe this, but French President, Emmanuel Macron admits there
are plans to disfigure Notre Dame!*

   - A statement from the French Presidential Palace says that the spire
   "not being part of the original cathedral, the President wishes that
   thought be given to *consider making a contemporary architectural
   gesture*."
   - Architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte, who worked on the renovation of the
   College des Bernardins, suggests *a glass spire that looks like the
   Pyramid of the Louvre*.
   - According to Professor Babeau, president of the Sapiens Institute,
   "others propose to replace the boring roof providentially gone up in smoke
   by a magnificent greenhouse that would be a '*transparent secular space*
   '".
   - The Vice-President of the House of the Architect of Ile-de-France
   region, Olivier Leclercq, is delighted with "the opportunity to rebuild
   Notre-Dame in the image of our time." In that spirit he suggests instead of
   a spire "a hole with a kind of arrow inverted from below"!

*Can you believe it!*

Notre Dame of Paris is the most beautiful building that we have inherited
from Christian Civilization.

Why do 13 million people go there every year?

Because of the cathedral's sacredness and harmony. The medieval cathedral
builders knew how to build in a style that lifts our souls and minds to God
and heaven.

To rebuild the cathedral in a "contemporary architectural gesture" would
destroy Notre Dame.

*Tell Mr. Macron and his Minister of Culture: "We don't need a debate!*"

*The French people have only one wish: to restore Notre Dame exactly as it
was!*

So, please act immediately by signing the petition to save the venerable
cathedral.

Mr. Emmanuel Macron thinks he can rebuild Notre Dame according to his own
wishes. Sorry!

That's wrong! For centuries, Notre Dame was dedicated to Catholic worship.
French authorities must respect this magnificent synthesis of Christian
religious art as it was handed down to us by nine centuries of history.

After the speech by the Head of State, Paris' Archbishop Aupetit pointed
out that Macron failed to pronounce the word "Christians" or "Catholics":

"It would have been nice if there had been a little word of compassion for
the Catholic community, for after all, Catholics are the ones who keep
Notre Dame Cathedral alive; it is not a museum!"

Yes, Mr. Macron, Notre-Dame is a monument built by Catholics to honor the
Mother of God!

It must be *restored* to the way it was before the April 15th fire.

   - Not only is this what the French people want, but this is the opinion
   of many experts including Mrs. Marivonne de Saint-Pulgent, Heritage
   Director at the Ministry of Culture from 1993 to 1997:

   "*Today it is entirely possible to rebuild it identically as it was:
   this would be the simplest, most economical, fastest and most sensible
   solution*."

No wonder ISIS has rejoiced that the cathedral was burnt. This surprises no
one.

It also makes it even more urgent to rebuild Notre Dame as it was before
the dreaded fire of April 15, 2019.
